Supervised visitation and safe exchange services for Metro Denver

The Family Tree Parenting Time Program provided a safe environment for children to spend time with their non-residential parent(s), that kept safety of the child and the survivor parent as the highest priority, through supervised visits and safe exchanges.

*Important announcement*

The Parenting Time Program has closed their doors permanently on March 15, 2024.

After much thought and consideration, the Family Tree Parenting Time Program closed permanently. The program has provided a safe environment for children to spend time with their non-residential parent(s), keeping the safety of the child and the survivor parent as the highest priority, through supervised visits and safe exchanges for the past 30 years.

With the recent changes in laws providing more options and opportunities for families seeking supervised visitation support, the “Family Time” laws indicate a decreased need for services from the Parenting Time Program. The changes to the law went into effect on January 1, 2024. The changes to the law require courts to order the least restrictive environments for supervised visits and allow family, friends or other people identified by the family to supervise visits.  This change was community-driven to meet cultural and familial needs. This is an inclusive approach that Family Tree supports and is in alignment with our values. The Parenting Time Program no longer has a high demand for services. Family Tree’s goal is and always has been to meet the needs presented by our community that are in alignment with our mission.  This often means adjusting services or in this case the closure of a program.

In addition, over the past several years it has proven to be challenging to meet necessary revenue goals, while expenses have continued to rise. With continued losses and significant shifts in community demand, we are unable to determine a viable path forward that will create sustainable operations now, and into the future.

The Parenting Time Program closed their doors on March 15, 2024. All clients will receive resource information and education on their rights regarding supervised visitation to ensure their needs are met going forward. Effective immediately, Parenting Time will no longer accept new clients. All people seeking safe exchange or supervised visitation services will be connected with appropriate resources to meet their needs.
