Colorado Homeless Contribution Tax Credit

The Colorado Homeless Contribution Income Tax Credit (HCTC) aims to encourage taxpayers to make contributions to approved nonprofit organizations to support providing appropriate housing and services to assist individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The HCTC provides a 25% state income tax credit to Colorado taxpayers who contribute to eligible homelessness-related projects within Colorado. Contributions over $100 for Family Tree Homelessness Program and Residential Programs are eligible for the HCTC.

Donations must be entered, at minimum, on a quarterly basis, so long as they meet the contribution minimum of $100. The final deadline for donor-submitted contributions is January 31, 2025.

If you would like to submit your contribution for tax credit eligibility for the current quarter, please complete the taxpayer contribution submission form by October 31 using the HCTC Donor Salesforce Portal.

Please note that the Tax ID information required varies on ID type. Review the requirements according to the Tax ID type you are using below:

● Social Security Number (SSN): last four digits
● Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN): last four digits
● Federal Employee Identification Number (FEIN): full nine digits

For more information and to review ineligible contributions, such as those made through Donor Advised Funds (DAF), please review the HCTC Taxpayer Handbook.

Tax credit certificates will be issued on a quarterly basis. The link to the certificate will be sent to your email or it will be mailed to you. You can expect your tax credit certificate after each quarterly deadline; April 30, July 31, October 31 and January 31 of the following year. Please keep the certificate in your records to submit when you file taxes.

Please contact Robert Ham if you have any questions or need additional information.
