Announcing our New CEO

Paolo

Family Tree Welcomes Paolo Diaz as CEO

Family Tree, and the Family Tree Board of Directors, are excited to announce after an extensive search process, the Board of Directors has selected Paolo Diaz as the next Chief Executive Officer of Family Tree.

From Family Tree Board Chair, Monica Buhlig, "Family Tree plays a critical role in our community by addressing the interconnected issues of domestic violence, child abuse and homelessness.  Our commitment to preventing and supporting survivors of such complex issues calls for a leader who is able to support our teams providing critical services now, while also navigating a complex and changing environment through visionary leadership and strategic partnerships.  Paolo Diaz brings this to Family Tree through his civic and professional experience as a nonprofit and government leader."

Since 2018, Paolo has led Adams County’s efforts to address poverty, homelessness, and race equity. Paolo was instrumental in spearheading initiatives for Adams County such as a homelessness reduction strategic framework, Severe Weather Activation Plan (SWAP), employment programs for people experiencing homelessness, a mobile home park strategy, and the Regional Alignment on Homelessness, a collaborative, cross-jurisdictional effort in the north metro region. Common themes to Paolo’s work include strategic engagement with diverse partners and leaders, collaboration and centering around those to be served. Paolo advanced diversity, equity, and inclusion in Adams County by laying the groundwork for a county-wide race equity council through the development of trainings, a strategic framework, and an engagement toolkit which continues to be used today.

Prior to Adams County, Paolo spent 14 years in the nonprofit sector. As the Vice President of Programs, he focused on empowering individuals, addressing systemic inequities, and fostering inclusion. He has also served the public as a city councilmember in Commerce City as well as running a youth lacrosse club in their community. Paolo and his wife are proud parents of a daughter and son.

When asked about his new position as CEO, Paolo said, "I am thrilled to join Family Tree and build on their incredible work supporting our community. I look forward to working alongside Family Tree's dedicated staff to advance our mission and create lasting impact in the years ahead."
