Listen and validate are key ways in which to initially respond. Next, let them know you love them and care about them. Share with your teen that you are concerned about them and their safety. Ultimately, tell your teen “It is not your fault.” It’s also important to remind your loved one that healthy relationships are not like this. Also, make sure you comment about the abusive behaviors and not about the abusive partner as the teen may feel defensive and might not open up to you again. </span></span></span></span></p> <p style="margin-bottom:11px"> </p> <p style="margin-bottom:11px"><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="line-height:107%"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><b><span style="font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,sans-serif">Leaving an Abuse Relationship is a Process</span></b></span></span></span></p> <p style="margin-bottom:11px"><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="line-height:107%"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,sans-serif">In an unhealthy or abusive relationship, it can be incredibly difficult for the person experiencing abuse to leave their partner. This process is not linear and can be different for everyone, so giving space to your teen and supporting them can sometimes be the best way to help. Additionally, remember that leaving an abusive partner can be the most dangerous time for the person experiencing the abuse. Although you are concerned for their safety, trust that your teen knows their relationship better than anyone and try to support them as they navigate this process. If you are a parent, sometimes this can be more difficult. For example, a parent might react by telling their teen that they will be grounded if they don’t break up with their partner. Autonomy is important in leaving an abusive partner, and ultimatums may encourage the teen to just continue the relationship in secret. In order to keep that open communication, try your best to support your teen in deciding their next steps together.</span></span></span></span></p> <p style="margin-bottom:11px"><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="line-height:107%"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><b><span style="font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,sans-serif">Taking Care of Yourself</span></b></span></span></span></p> <p style="margin-bottom:11px"><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="line-height:107%"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,sans-serif">Like we stated before, it can be incredibly difficult to watch your loved one, especially a teenager, experience violence in their relationship. Today Family Tree serves the seven-county metro area and partners with all people to prevent and overcome the interconnected issues of child abuse, domestic violence and homelessness to promote safety, healing and stability across generations. Family Tree is the only organization in the Denver-metro area working to address the interconnectedness among child abuse, domestic violence and homelessness.<br />   <br /> Family Tree believes everyone needs a safe place to call home. We have been successfully supporting people at-risk of or experiencing homelessness for over 30 years. Our approach employs the evidence-based Housing First model, recognizing that providing a home is the first step to improving health factors and overall functioning. Family Tree then engages clients in comprehensive supportive services, moving people toward stabilization and economic independence.</p> <p>Family Tree has owned 5549 Marshall Street for more than 25 years, which has now been named "Marshall Street Landing". The site is more than an acre and a half and supports a higher building density. Family Tree plans to develop a four-story apartment building with up to 85 apartments. The Marshall Street Landing apartments will be a mixture of 1- and 2-bedroom units for individuals and families experiencing homelessness and those at our below 30% area median income. The facility will have space for community gatherings, on-site staffing and service provision. Family Tree will provide on-site comprehensive, evidence-based services to help residents work toward goals and remain stably housed.  The site will be professionally managed and staffed 24/7.</p> <p>Key partners in the development of Marshall Street Landing include BlueLine Development, an affordable housing developer and property management entity, as well as Jefferson Center Mental Health.  Jefferson Center, among other offerings, will provide therapeutic mental health and substance use services.</p> <p>The proposed development is an approved use of the land, and once completed will be an attractive addition to the neighborhood.  Family Tree would like to provide an opportunity for the community and neighbors to ask questions and share thoughts on the new development.  </p> <p>Family Tree submitted an application for low-income housing tax credits (LIHTC) on August 2, 2022. The LIHTC application process is highly competitive and many projects have to apply several times. Family Tree is proud to have been awarded those credits on November 15, 2022. Without this critical financing source, our project would not be possible. </p> <span><span lang="" about="/user/39" typeof="schema:Person" property="schema:name" datatype="">Christen</span></span> <span>Mon, 06/13/2022 - 3:09pm</span> <div id="assembly-id-355" class="assembly assembly-type-rich_text"> <div class="container"> <p class="h5"><strong>Questions?</strong></p> <p>Please email Robert Ham at <a href="mailto:rham@thefamilytree.org">rham@thefamilytree.org</a></p> <p class="h2">Latest Updates</p> <p><strong>6/9/22:  Documents Added</strong></p> <ul><li><a href="/sites/default/files/2023-08/FT%20FAQ%27s%208.25.23%20KL%20%28002%29.pdf">Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)</a></li> <li><a href="/sites/default/files/2023-06/DRAFT%20Site%20Plan%20and%20Architectural%20Drawings_2.pdf">DRAFT Site Plan and Architectural Drawings</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> <div id="assembly-id-354" class="assembly assembly-type-tiles_with_content"> <div class="container"> <h2 class="section-title field__item"> All Documents </h2> <ul class="text-tile-list field field--name-field-tiles-with-content field--type-entity-reference field--label-hidden field__items"> <li class="field__item"> <div class="text-tile"> <div class="text-tile-wrapper"> <div class="text-tile-content"> <p><strong>DRAFT Site Plan and Architectural Drawings</strong></p> <p><a class="btn btn-secondary btn-sm" href="/sites/default/files/2023-06/DRAFT%20Site%20Plan%20and%20Architectural%20Drawings_2.pdf">Open/Download</a></p> </div> </div> </div> </li> <li class="field__item"> <div class="text-tile"> <div class="text-tile-wrapper"> <div class="text-tile-content"> <p><strong>Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)</strong></p> <p><a class="btn btn-secondary btn-sm" href="/sites/default/files/2023-08/FT%20FAQ%27s%208.25.23%20KL%20%28002%29.pdf">Open/Download</a></p> </div> </div> </div> </li> </ul> </div> </div> <div id="assembly-id-389" class="assembly assembly-type-rich_text"> <div class="container"> <h2 class="section-title field__item"> Coming Soon - Marshall Street Landing </h2> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><img alt="56th" data-entity-type="image" data-entity-uuid="0" src="/sites/default/files/23%200518_56th%20St.png" /></p> <p><br /><img alt="entry" data-entity-type="image" data-entity-uuid="0" src="/sites/default/files/23%200518_Entry_0.png" /></p> <p><img alt="lobby" data-entity-type="image" data-entity-uuid="0" src="/sites/default/files/Enscape_VIEW%20OF%20LOBBY.png" /></p> <p><img alt="lounge" data-entity-type="image" data-entity-uuid="0" src="/sites/default/files/Enscape_VIEW%20OF%20LOUNGE.png" /></p> <p><img alt="kitchen" data-entity-type="image" data-entity-uuid="0" src="/sites/default/files/Enscape_VIEW%20OF%20KITCHEN%202.png" /></p> <p><img alt="laundry" data-entity-type="image" data-entity-uuid="0" src="/sites/default/files/Enscape_LAUNDRY.png" /></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> </div> </div> <div class="billboards"> <div id="assembly-id-353" class="assembly assembly-type-image_billboard has-background assembly billboard"> <div class="background" style="background-image: url(https://www.thefamilytree.org/sites/default/files/styles/billboard/public/2023-06/23%200518_Entry.png?itok=LLDKylt-); background-position: 50% 50%;"></div> <div class="billboard-content"> </div> </div> </div> Mon, 13 Jun 2022 19:09:35 +0000 Christen 235 at https://www.thefamilytree.org
